“Not only did they compete well, but they were a great, fun-loving and a well-behaved group of kids. This was the best state competition I've ever been to, and it’s also the one I've had the most fun at - in large part because of the students,” Norman said. “They were an excellent representation of our community. There were so many times I caught them saying yes ma'am, no ma'am, saying thank you, holding doors open for people and other "gentlemanly" things like that.
“Ms. Squibb, the N.C. TSA leader/DPI rep, even came up to me after the conference was over and complimented them on their attitude and behavior throughout the conference - that she wished more groups were as outgoing and fun, yet well behaved and polite as Garner. They did Garner proud!”
Garner earned third place for Chapter of the Year; this means GMHS was named the third best competing high school in attendance.
“This is a huge accomplishment because the first and second place schools literally had five times as many students competing,” Norman said.
