Garner's TSA Chapter competed at the State Competition in Greensboro, N.C. Apr. 3-5. The group included 12 students. TSA adviser Hunter Norman said the group did very well at the competitions. Like last year, the Trojans qualified for the national competition. This year's national competition will be in Dallas, Texas Jun. 21-25.

“Not only did they compete well, but they were a great, fun-loving and a well-behaved group of kids. This was the best state competition I've ever been to, and it’s also the one I've had the most fun at - in large part because of the students,” Norman said. “They were an excellent representation of our community. There were so many times I caught them saying yes ma'am, no ma'am, saying thank you, holding doors open for people and other "gentlemanly" things like that.

“Ms. Squibb, the N.C. TSA leader/DPI rep, even came up to me after the conference was over and complimented them on their attitude and behavior throughout the conference - that she wished more groups were as outgoing and fun, yet well behaved and polite as Garner. They did Garner proud!”

Garner earned third place for Chapter of the Year; this means GMHS was named the third best competing high school in attendance.

“This is a huge accomplishment because the first and second place schools literally had five times as many students competing,” Norman said.
