On Saturday, Feb. 4, Able to Serve and the Garner Civitans hosted a Valentine’s Day dance for older youth and adults with special needs.
Carlton McDaniel, founder and executive director of Able to Serve, said that this is a “time to celebrate what we do.”
But what exactly do they do?
Throughout the year, Able to Serve gives back to its community with numerous projects.
This year, Able to Serve completed projects such as filling Ziplock bags with travel toothpaste, floss, toothbrushes and much more for Dentists to give to their patients. They also sorted toys for the Samaritan’s Purse, helped with the mail-outs for Community of Hope church and created bags for the movie “Courageous.”
With a year full of giving, it was time for the giving to be returned, and this night was about the community simply saying thanks for all you do.
“It’s an occasion to say we appreciate you,” McDaniel said.
