Garner Veterans’ Memorial Committee, Inc. and the Town of Garner will hold a Memorial Day observance at the future site of the Garner Veterans Memorial at Lake Benson Park. This observance will take place on Monday, May 28 at 1:30 p.m. Garner American Legion Post #232 will be in charge of the time of remembrance, which will include a reading of the names of fallen Garner soldiers whose names will be on the memorial when it is completed. The laying of the wreath at the memorial site, in memory and in honor of all those who have lost their lives in service to our country, will be done by members of American Legion Post # 232.
Color Guard for the memorial service will be members of the Garner Police Department, Garner Fire Department and Garner EMS.
Rep. Deborah Ross, currently representing District #38, will be the keynote speaker for the event. Ross is serving her fifth term in the N.C. House of Representatives.
Join Garner American legion Post #232, VFW Post #10225, veterans, their families, local community leaders and citizens and elected officials to honor all veterans who died in uniform serving their country.
Bring lawn chairs and enjoy the beautiful park and the future memorial site as we take this opportunity to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we are able to enjoy the beauty and freedom of this great country.
In case of inclement weather, the rain location will be the large picnic shelter at Lake Benson Park.
