Martha Brandon Sorrell, 58, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, died August 2, 2009. Born in Durham County on November 27, 1950 she was the daughter of the late Francis Arnold Brandon and Lois McDuffie Brandon. Martha attended Jordan High School and Pfeiffer College in Misenheimer, N.C. On December 29, 1969 she married William Burl “Bill” Sorrell also of Durham who survives. For most of her life she lived in Durham, Morrisville, and Raleigh, and only for a short time in Imperial Beach, CA. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5, at New Bethel Baptist Church in Garner. In addition to her husband, Martha is survived by her daughter, Emily Bradford and husband, Chris of Fuquay-Varina; son, Ben Sorrell and wife, Erin of Raleigh; grandchildren, Abbie Bradford, Bodie Sorrell and Eli Sorrell; sisters, Becky Knowles and Bonnie Keaton; brother, Francis “Buddy” Brandon, and many nieces and nephews. The family received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. August 4 at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Garner. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the North Carolina Baptist Children’s Home, P.O.
