Last Days to Collect Summer Reading Prizes
Remember to bring in completed 15-hour reading logs to the Youth Services Desk by Friday, Aug. 28 in order to collect your prize pack. Also, stop by and pick up the new Fall Schedule for children’s programs. Storytimes, School Age Specials, and Homeschool Happenings are now on planning break until Aug. 31.
Kids’ Art Wall Coming Soon
Is your child a budding artist? Would they like to display their work for the public? We are looking for 3-6 pieces of original art to hang in the Youth Services Area. The medium is limited only to what can be hung on a wall—beyond that be as creative as possible. Children ages 4-12 can apply to display their masterpieces for one month as a featured artist. Submissions will be displayed in the order they are received.
Coming Soon: Read Aloud Book Club for Young Readers
The Southeast Regional Library will be starting a book club for children in Kindergarten through second Grade. Each month we will be reading and talking about a selected book, followed by a book-related craft. Children do not need to be independent readers to participate in the club. Space in the club will be limited to 12 kids and registration is required. For more information about this book club, stop by the Youth Services desk or call 662-2263.
Backyard Chickens program
A Backyard Chickens program for ages 10 and up will be presented at the Southeast Regional Library in Garner on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. Kristen Warren, of the Friends of Hens of Garner, will speak on the benefits of raising chickens and provide information on getting started.
