The money will be paid to the NCDOT to pave driveway access points for Core Properties and Sherman Yeargan along Timber Drive at the same time as the extension project is taking place.
The amount spent by Garner is to be repaid by the developer when construction is complete on the property.
Town Manager said he believes the $144,000 is a fixed amount. Regardless, he said the amount Garner can pay for the Timber Drive extension is capped at $2 million.
Sewer system extension project to move forward
The Council also voted unanimously to take the first step to extend sewage service to 12 property owners along NC 50 and New Rand Road.
Nearly 970 feet of wastewater collection pipe will be installed at the cost of $75,000. One hundred percent of the extension project will be funded by the property owners.
Split between the property owners, the cost would be nearly $6,300 per lot.
Town Engineer Frank Powell said there were many bidders for the job.
“Now’s a good time for this project,” he said. “Even a $75,000 project is enticing.”
