A Backyard Chickens program for ages 10 and up will be presented at the Southeast Regional Library in Garner on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. Kristen Warren, of the Friends of Hens of Garner, will speak on the benefits of raising chickens and provide information on getting started. 27th Annual Storytelling Festival to take place at Historic Oak View Country Park
Join us for the 27th annual Storytelling Festival, Saturday, Sept. 26 at Historic Oak View County Park. There will be continuous storytelling on the lawn 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. This year’s featured storyteller is Donna Washington and the highlighted storyteller for this year is Ron Jones. This event is free of charge and will occur rain or shine. The Storytelling Festival is funded by a generous grant from the Friends of the Wake County Public Library. There will also be a hayride shuttle and food vendor. Only lawn seating will be available, so bring a blanket, cushion or chair. Special book discussion on Hemingway's classic novel The Sun Also Rises in conjunction with Ava Gardner Festival
Join us for a discussion of Ernest Hemingway's first major novel - The Sun Also Rises - on Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. The discussion is in conjunction with the Ava Gardner Festival, which takes place Oct. 9 and 10 at the Ava Gardner Museum in Smithfield. Librarian Brandy Hamilton will lead the discussion and informational guides will be provided. All participants will receive free tickets to the Ava Gardner Museum.
