Jobseekers can begin today applying for 2009 N.C. State Fair temporary jobs by going to the two Wake County offices of the N.C. Employment Security Commission.

Those looking for temporary work at the State Fair — which runs Oct. 15-25 — will notice some changes in the application process this year. People interested in working for Fair vendors should visit the ESC’s Raleigh or Cary of¬fices to complete an application.

“This is a change from previous years,” said ESC Chairman Moses Carey Jr. “In the past, people applied for State Fair jobs at our temporary office on the fairgrounds. To better accommodate the high volume of jobseekers, we are asking those interested in these jobs to come by our Wake County offices. In addition, we are extending the time allowed to apply for the various positions available.”

Applications will be accepted in the ESC office in Raleigh, 3351 Carl Sandburg Court, and, at the Cary location, 742-F East Chatham Street.

The ESC will accept Fair job applications through Oct. 23. Applicants should apply in-person at the ESC offices listed and reference Job Order Number: NC 7267092. No phone calls or appointments are necessary.

Members of the news media can contact the ESC Public Information Office at 919-733-4329.
