Holly Springs resident Jackie Green learned the fine art of southern baking and cooking at a very young age growing up in South Carolina. After the death of her mother when she was seven years old, Jackie was raised by her grandmother and aunts who passed on to her the love of baking. She spent hours in the kitchen under their tutelage learning the baking techniques and specialties that are part of her business today.

Jackie’s background is in corporate management. While pursuing a corporate career, Jackie always had a vision of a business of her own. She opened “Cakes Galore” in Winston-Salem, N.C. There she baked for clients and sold her carrot cakes to a local coffee shop. When her job took her to Blytheville, Arkansas, Jackie opened “Southern Delectable’s where she was able to sell her signature butter pound cakes and southern pecan pies to several convenience stores and individual clients.

Jackie and her husband Carl moved to Cary in 2007 and then to Holly Springs in the spring of 2009. Around this time, she lost her job in the midst of the economic downturn. After much prayer and thought as to what she should do, Jackie decided to go back to what she knew best – baking. She named her new business venture “Sweet Cheeks”. After a process of filing all the proper paperwork, she began pursuing her dream in earnest.

In addition to her baking, Jackie takes classes for the Small Business Administration at Wake Tech Community College, through SCORE, counselors to America’s Small Businesses, and the Women’s Business Center of N.C. to keep abreast of new business ideas and trends in the marketplace.

Jackie bakes her cakes and treats only after an order is placed and delivers them within hours of baking to insure the freshest possible product for her customers. She uses the freshest quality ingredients with nothing artificial.

In addition to her butter pound cake which is her “signature” item, Jackie also sells carrot cake, red velvet cake, German chocolate and coconut cakes, buttermilk pie, chess pie, chocolate and lemon meringue pies, brownies, tartlets and sheet cakes to name just a few. Cakes decorated with your favorite photo are also available.

Jackie’s butter pound cake and carrot cake are sold at the Swift Creek Coffee House in Garner.
