John Keith Nickalson, Sr, 88, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2009. Born in Alamance County, he was the son of the late Harold Nickalson and Cornelia Rich Nickalson. Serving in all five campaigns during World War II, he was the recipient of the Bronze Star. Graveside service was held at 11 a.m. September 30 at Montlawn Memorial Park. He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Holt and husband, Ron of Wake Forest; son, John Nickalson Jr. and wife, Catherine; brothers, Donald E. Beckwith of Charlotte, and William T. Beckwith of Raleigh; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Mr. Nickalson is predeceased by sisters, Elizabeth Thatch and Betty Lou Bland.
