Only 500 tickets will be sold to this premier event, to feature dining, dancing and a diamond dip, and the chance to win $2,500 in cash.
Proceeds of this black-tie affair will benefit the Backpack Buddies program, which supplies homeless and low-income children within the Garner school system with a weekly backpack full of nutritious, child-friendly foods.
Additional proceeds will go to fund scholarships for Garner-area high school students.
“I’m a part of this because 12 percent of the 1,700 homeless children in Wake County Schools are here in Garner,” says Julie Clark, immediate past president of the Garner Mid-Day Rotary Club and gala chair. “We need to raise awareness, and help feed these children.”
Black, White & Bling Gala 2009 will take place on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m., at the historic Rand-Bryan House in Garner. Classic cars will line the grounds and sophisticated “strolling magic” by the renowned Michael Casey will guarantee an elegant evening.
Live music by the Wells Family Band, and music by DJ “Big John” Ruth of Y102.9FM, will add to the festivities, and professional photographers will be on hand.
Auction items will include a signed Carolina Hurricanes hockey stick, 9-carat amethyst, rare coin collection, restaurant gift certificates and more.
“First and foremost, this is your opportunity to help hungry children, and support youth and education in the Garner community,” Clark says. “Then there’s the chance to win a beautiful diamond donated by Swift’s Fine Jewelry, and $2,500 in cash.
“Black, White & Bling Gala 2009 will be the premier event for this community. Polish your shoes and bring out your best bling, and enjoy an evening with the Who’s Who of the Garner community, all for a great cause.”
Gala sponsors include Rand-Bryan House, diamond donor Swift’s Fine Jewelry, Wachovia Bank, Garner Family Eye Care, Cottman Transmission, Budweiser and S&A Cherokee.
Gala tickets are $100 and include dinner for two and one chance per couple to win the diamond and the cash prize. For tickets or more information, visit www.garnerblackwhiteandblinggala.org or call Clark at 919-271-2618.
