Wake County will open H1N1 vaccination clinics primarily for healthy children ages 2 to 18 on Saturday, November 21, 2009. The clinic at the Sunnybrook Building in Raleigh, the Northern Regional Center in Wake Forest and Apex High School in Apex and will operate from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The clinics will offer the nasal spray vaccine to people who are eligible to receive it within the priority groups. The injectable form of the H1N1 Vaccine will be available to individuals that cannot receive the nasal spray vaccine within the priority groups.

“We have chosen to have these H1N1 vaccination clinic at a time that is convenient for families,” said Wake County Community Health Director Sue Lynn Ledford. “We encourage parents of healthy children ages 2 and up to get their families vaccinated on Saturday.”



The following people are eligible to receive the FluMist nasal spray:

· Healthy children ages 2 to 24

· Household contacts and caregivers, ages 25 to 49, for children younger than 2 years of age

· Healthcare and emergency medical services personnel that will be in contact with high-risk groups

The following people are eligible to receive the injectable vaccine:

· Pregnant Women

· Children ages 6 month to 2 years

· Anyone ages 2 to 64 with chronic medical conditions or a weakened immune system

“The last several times we have opened H1N1 vaccination clinics, we have seen long lines throughout the day,” said Ledford. “People who plan to attend the Saturday clinics should be prepared to be waiting inside and outside the clinic buildings. For some people this may include bringing water to drink, chairs to sit in and having plans in place to keep children occupied.”

H1N1 vaccination clinics will open at 9 a.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2009, at the following locations:

Wake Forest

Northern Regional Center

350 East Holding Ave., Wake Forest

Apex

Apex High School

1501 Laura Duncan Road, Apex
