Turkey and Ham Shoots Clyde’s Chapel Baptist Church near Archer Lodge will hold a series of turkey and ham shoots Nov. 20-21, Nov. 27-28 and Dec. 4-5. The hours are 7-8:30 each night. Light Up Main in Garner Light Up Main takes Garner’s traditional community tree lighting ceremony to a new, expanded level of fun and excitement on Friday, Dec. 4 from 6-8 p.m. Held on Garner’s historic Main Street, the festive event for kids of all ages combines Christmas carols sung by Smith Elementary, Miss Garner 2010 and area churches, seasonal dances by DanzeZone and Garner Magnet High School, an art walk with unique gifts available for purchase, a reading of the classic poem, “Twas the Night Before Christmas,” dramatic lighting, refreshments, two trees, two performance areas, strolling carolers and a special appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus at Santa’s Workshop where there will be a host of holiday craft activities for the kids. Garner Christmas Parade The annual “Christmas at St. Mary’s Craft Show and Sale” will be Saturday, Dec. 5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will be held at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, located at 1008 Vandora Springs Road in Garner. Southern Regional GAP Kincare Support Group The Southern Regional GAP (Grandparents as Parents) Kincare Support Group meets once a month on the third Friday evening of the month at 6:30 p.m. The mission of the Southern Regional GAP is to provide ongoing support not only to grandparents but all family members caring for other family members.
