Junior “J.R.” F. Wilkins, 78, passed away Friday, November 20, 2009 at Rex Hospice Care Unit. A native of Granville County, J.R. was born December 17, 1930, to the late Charlie Edward and Ada Whitt Wilkins. Mr. Wilkins retired from the A&P Tea Co. after 34 years of dedicated service. A funeral service was held Monday, November 23, 2009 at 3 p.m. at the Bryan-Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Garner. Entombment followed at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Clayton, N.C. J.R. is survived his wife, Leola Williams Wilkins; Sons A. Maurice “Moe” Wilkins (Helen), of Benson, Keith Darnell Wilkins (Amy), of Clayton, Robbie Darren Wilkins (Ann),of Holly Springs; sister Lugene Powell, of Roxboro; brothers Rennie Wilkins, of Rougemont, Roy Wilkins, Willie Wilkins and Lawrence Wilkins, all of Oxford; and grandchildren Zachary, Nicholas, Carly, Preston, Darren and Tiffany. The family received friends Sunday, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Garner.
