It’s known as FOCUS Protection and Investigation – a full service investigation company covering a large area of North Carolina and with services available across the country.
It held a grand opening to introduce its new site of operation Saturday, Nov. 21, with an open invitation welcoming the public to visit for an exclusive peek into the life and ability of today’s operations of a private eye organization.
FOCUS Protection and Investigation is located at 10013 Fayetteville Road (Highway 401), just north of the intersection of 401 and Hilltop Needmore Road.
The owners also operate a family entertainment business called F and M Entertainment business they started 15 years ago. It organizes corporate events as well as backyard parties, birthday parties, church events and family day-type activities – walks, slides, pony rides.
FOCUS PI is owned by Kelly and Brandon Sauls of Holly Springs.
Brandon was a Raleigh police officer from 1998 to 2006.
When he left the department, he and his wife, Kelly, decided to work together and begin the investigation business.
It allows them to assist those having a difficult time finding people to help them and to be a great support system for their clients.
Attorneys, direct marketing and advertising make up 33 per cent of their business. A good portion is word of mouth and being visible when a client needs a professional investigator.
Often clients hire professional investigators when they don’t want family or significant others to know very private and difficult situations.
And what type of PI services do people usually request the most?
The Sauls point to domestic cases, such as adultery, adoption cases, child custody cases and just asset (divorce) alimony cases. Also, informational cases, which are database searches, locating numbers for a John Doe search, last known address, etc. They say there is also workman’s comp and insurance claims accident reconstruction.
In criminal investigations, they also work in tandem with police department or family members of people who are involved in a crime, everything from traffic accidents to murder cases.
They say they are driven to help people and are available to everyone.
One big reason they like this line of work, they add, is flexibility as a family.
As private investigators it provides them with something new every day.
“We are there for people when they can’t count on anyone else; we are a great support system for our clients,” the Sauls say.
