Man robbed at gunpoint; Suspects arrested

On November 23, Jose Arangure reported that he had been robbed at gunpoint by two suspects in the Bryan Woods Apartments in Garner. The victim stated he was walking home after breaking down in his car, when an unknown suspect approached him. The suspect displayed a handgun and forced the victim to go with him to a nearby apartment: 922-A4 Bryan Place.

At the apartment, the victim said a second suspect, later identified as Hubert Anthony Best, 51, of 922-A4 Bryan Place, also displayed a handgun. The victim said once at the apartment, he was robbed of his wallet and threatened with retaliation if he reported it to police. The victim did report it to police after being released unharmed.

Based on information from the victim, Garner Police obtained and executed a search warrant at 922-A4 Bryand Place. Mr. Best was found inside the apartment during the search. Investigators recovered a stolen handgun in the apartment that is believed to have been used during the robbery. Mr. Best has been charged with Robbery with Firearm and Possession of a Stolen Firearm.

Garner detectives are continuing the investigation in an effort to identify and arrest the other suspect in this incident. He is described as a black male, 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing approximately 200 lbs. This suspect had black hair in "corn rows". He was wearing a grey tank top and blue jeans. He was armed with silver revolver.
