So, when the brothers bought Aversboro Coffee in early October, it was a welcome change.
“I love coffee and when the opportunity came up, I jumped at it,” Josh said.
Already, the North Carolina natives have received a warm welcome, as was evident at the Chamber of Commerce event for Aversboro Coffee Dec. 3.
Many Garner residents flocked to the coffee shop for $1 specialty drinks and time to converse with friends.
The duo have reinvigorated Aversboro Coffee with brotherly, and neighborly love – posting photos of locals and their loved ones in the military as well as customers’ creations.
However, you won’t see too many changes to the menu.
“We don’t want to change it,” Josh said. “We want to make it better.”
Aversboro Coffee will now cater coffee. Also, Josh and Jeromy are taking the coffee shop to a new level. They are currently working on a website and have made a Facebook page for the shop where customers can find secret codes for discounts and post photos of themselves in Super Dave’s chair, a coveted spot to one of their regulars.
While workers include the owners and family members who have volunteered, Josh and Jeromy said they are happy to be at work.
“This is, by far, my favorite job,” Jeromy said. “Now that I’ve done this job, I wouldn’t do anything else.”
Giving back
The Macon brothers also hope to use their new jobs as owners to give back to the community. Aversboro Coffee will act as a BackPack Buddies drop-off for food items to donate to local children in need.
They also have photos of dogs and cats from the SPCA of Wake County rotating on a digital frame near the seating area to encourage customers to donate to the animals.
Aversboro Coffee is located at 1401 Aversboro Road in Garner. For more information, call 919-779-9337.
