Lt. Paul Shambaugh, with the Garner Police Department, has successfully graduated from the 55th Session of the Administrative Officers Management Program, sponsored by North Carolina State University and the N.C. Highway Patrol. This accredited Public Administration Program is a continuing education activity of the Public Safety Leadership Initiative in the School of Public and International Affairs in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at NCSU.

This is a unique educational program for law enforcement professionals that is offered three times a year in the Spring, Summer and Fall. A class size of 30, all participants live in residence at the N.C. State Highway Patrol Training Academy in Raleigh, N.C., while attending this intensive 12-week academic program. During this time, participants become more familiar with the administrative aspects of policing. They also earn 15 college credits and a certificate of completion. Participants, who come from across the U.S. and international locations, are nominated by their department or agency and from those, 30 candidates are selected to attend.

Shambaugh felt honored to be elected as Class President by his fellow classmates during this session of the program. This election represented the great confidence his classmates had in his abilities to take on a leadership role in the class and to represent them as he delivered closing remarks at their graduation program.

Shambaugh has been employed with the Garner Police Department for 20 years. He previously served as a Patrol Officer, Drug Investigator, Bike Officer, Field Training Officer, Sergeant and now as a Lieutenant. Lt. Shambaugh is from Jacksonville, N.C. and graduated from Jacksonville Senior High School and Johnston Community College. He is continuing his studies at NCSU and hopes to attend the FBI National Academy in the near future. He currently resides with his family in Clayton.
