Dear Editor,
I am very disturbed that Wake County library officials are planning to close Southeast Regional Library in Garner. Southeast Regional Library is an asset to our community and it helps us attract families and businesses to our community. Garner just cannot afford for Southeast Regional library to be closed. My children and I visit the library frequently and it would be hardship if we had to travel to Raleigh to go to the library. Many unemployed individuals use the library to find jobs, children and teenagers are always using the computers and doing school research and assignments at the library, and Southeast Regional Library offers quality programs for children and citizens. I understand that these are hard economic times and tough budget decisions have to be made but County library officials should not be making such a large budget reduction on Garner's back. It is unfair for Garner to have shoulder such a large part of the budget reduction. The budget reduction needs to be distributed to all municipalities. That is the fair and equitable thing to do.
