Varsity wrestler Tyler Maher brings leadership and skill to the mat for the Garner Magnet High School Trojans. The 17-year-old Junior’s present record is 32-2. Tyler is the son of John and Sandy Maher.

As a Sophomore, Maher was an All American Winner with a fourth place finish at Virginia Beach, Va in April 2009.

He was a 2008-2009 Conference Champion, an AAU N.C. State Champion in Greensboro (January 2009), an AAU Southern Nationals Champion in Carrboro (March 2009) and he participated on the N.C. Wrestling team at the Disney Duals in June 2009.

Tyler is nationally ranked in the top 20 and ranked #7 on Lee Roper’s Southeastern High School Rankings. According to Coach Bunn, “Tyler works very hard at increasing his wrestling skills on a daily basis. Tyler works both in school and out (club wrestling) to become a better wrestler.”

“He is a leader in the sport and has been chosen one of the co-captains for the year. He has a positive attitude towards school and wrestling. In school he participates in all honor classes with a GPA of 4.0. I am pleased to have the opportunity to work with Tyler Maher.”
