Boating Course at First Presbyterian Church of Garner Effective May 1, 2010, any person under the age of 26 MUST have taken and completed an approved boating education course. Venture Crew 392 of The First Presbyterian Church of Garner is sponsoring this class on Apr. 24, 2010. The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is conducting the class at a discounted rate of $35 per person, for ages 15-18. No boating experience required. Gospel Quartet Popular Southern Gospel quartet, The Dixie Melody Boys will be featured at the Shiloh Baptist Church in Garner. American Legion Auxiliary Unit 116 Fish Fry The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 116 in Fuquay-Varina is hosting a Fish Fry Dinner for the community Saturday May 1, 2010 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Legion Hall at 6400 Johnson Pond Road in Fuquay-Varina. Calling Service Minded People The Garner Lions Club is expanding! Our club is looking for individuals who are interested in getting involved with their community and helping people in need. The Garner Lions club has helped over 20 individuals in the local area with assistance in getting an eye exam and getting glasses over the last year. We had a BBQ chicken fundraiser in late winter to raise funds to help local citizens in need. Our main goal is to assist those who are visually impaired. We help provide help for Camp Dogwood, a camp specialized for those who are visually impaired. We also help in funding Campaign SightFirst, an international effort to eradicate preventable blindness throughout the world.
