The Board of Adjustment is in need of members who reside outside of Garner’s town limits, but within Wake County’s jurisdiction. Meetings are held the fourth Thursday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at Garner Town Hall. Duties include hearing and deciding on appeals made by citizens who are requesting a special exception, or a variance from the Town’s Unified Development Ordinance (UDO).
The Planning Commission is in need of members who reside outside Garner’s Town limits, but within Garner’s Exterritorial Jurisdiction (ETJ). This commission meets the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at Garner Town Hall. The commission deals with land use, zoning and development issues.
Attendance may also be necessary at public hearings on plans, rezoning and ordinance amendments, which are held jointly with the Town Council on the first Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at Garner Town Hall. Experience in architecture, planning, development, landscaping, the arts, or other fields related to urban design or appearance would be helpful, but not required.
Find your place to serve and share your ideas, skills and concerns on topics from community appearance to land use initiatives. Your ideas and opinions are important and your willingness to serve on a Town Board or Commission may be the avenue where you feel led to volunteer, so together, we can continue to work to make “Garner … a Great Place to Be!”
For questions, more information, or to see if you live within Garner’s ETJ, please call Cathy Reynolds at 919-773-4456 or email creynolds@garnernc.gov. Applications must be completed and returned to the Town Clerk’s office by June 25, 2010.
Applications are available in the Town Clerk’s office or online at the Town of Garner’s web site at www.GarnerNC.gov.
