B. Rodney Finger, 63, died Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at Rex Hospital. A native of Lincolnton, N.C., he was the son of Ruby Heavner Finger Sigmon and the late Yates Finger. Rodney was the recipient of the God and Country Award and attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He attended Lenoir-Rhyne College and graduated from King’s Business College. After retirement from the N.C. Department of Insurance in 2006, he worked part time in the Sergeant of Arms office of the N.C. General Assembly. He was full of life, loved the outdoors, especially the beach, deer hunting, fishing and boating and also had a passion for U.S. History. A funeral service was held at 4 p.m. Friday, July 2 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church. The family received friends following the service. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Nancy Tucker Finger; daughter, Allison Finger Gillies and her husband, Brett of San Diego; sons, Paul Harrison Finger of Garner and John Yates Finger and his wife, Annjanette and her son, Wyatt of Willow Spring; mother, Ruby Heavner Finger Sigmon of Lincolnton, N.C.; brother, James Richard “Dick” Finger and his wife, Gail of Granite Quarry, N.C. The family wishes to thank the caring staffs of the Cancer Centers of North Carolina and Rex Hospital-5 East. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 2100 Buffaloe Road, Garner, NC 27529.
