The shelves were stocked and employees were ready as the store began to fill. Even though the store had a soft opening Jul. 9, District Manager Kevin Harrington said the stream of customers has been pretty steady.
Harrington and Store Manager Russ Portz both said Big Lots has received a warm welcome from the Garner community. Actually, they said the opening was flawless.
“We’ve been really, really busy,” Harrington said.
Portz said this is his fifth store opening since he started working at Big Lots, and it is by far the best. “Everybody’s welcomed us nicely,” he said.
The Big Lots family has plans to reciprocate the welcome from Garner.
As part of the grand opening, Big Lots plans to present a $2,500 check to Smith Elementary School. “We are delighted to be a new and active member of the neighborhood,” Senior Vice President of marketing for Big Lots Rob Claxton said in a press release.
