The 22nd annual James R. Stevens Service to Garner Award Banquet will be held on Aug. 21 at Aversboro Road Baptist Church.

This year’s event will be a luncheon and will begin at noon.

The 2010 award winners are Pam Cash and Jill Cottengim.

Pam has been in Garner since 1985 and has been a leader in numerous revitalization efforts for downtown Garner.

She also has served on the town’s Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee and has been an active member of the Garner Woman’s Club.

Jill Cottengim, a life-long resident of Garner, is a teacher at Garner Magnet High School where she devotes her time and positive influence beyond the classroom in activities such as student council, homecoming, and the annual Asheboro leadership retreat. She has chaired Garner’s nationally recognized Relay for Life since the first event in 1998.

The public is invited to attend the banquet as we honor this year’s recipients.

Advance tickets are required and may be purchased through Aug. 18 for $7.50 at the following locations:

▪ Garner Town Hall – 919-772-4688

▪ Garner Chamber of Commerce – 919-772-6440

The James R. Stevens Award was established in 1988 by a group of Garner area citizens in cooperation with the Town of Garner and the Chamber of Commerce to recognize special individuals who offer years of dedicated service to Garner.
